Interview Transcript

My partner that I interviewed was Jeffrey. We touched on his early years of playing baseball and what that meant to him.

[02:45:06]

I'd have to say it was the time i was with a team called the colts. It was the first time I was with all my friends on the same team. The whole roster was full of my friends. We made the playoffs and then we made the championship game and that went to 16innings. I remember pitching in that game, and we won that game. thats one thing i remember because I am still friends with these people and we can also relate to back to this moment.

[02:46:44]

I played throughout middle school and high school and i stopped playing after high school. I moved on to different sports because baseball was hard to play with only one or two people, it requires 18 indiviudals and thats hard to get everyone together. We've been talking about old memories and I'd say playing baseball is one of my favorite memories. Talking to you about this now i realized i wont have that chance again to play a real game like that. It's one of those things realize i might never do that again. It makes me appreciate that I played it and enjoyed it for that time being.

[2:48:28]

I stopped practicing after a while. I really didnt want to anymore, I guess in a way i lost the desire to play.

[02:49:01]

That was probably my most interesting time. That was most fun I had, I joined the team with two of my friends. The first and second year were the most fun years, I upperclass man adopted me and i was part of the cool kids you know?

[02:50:16]

My Junior year i stopped going to practices I didnt really take it seriously. I stopped caring as much. At the time being in high school you think everything is fun. SATs are on your mind, college comes on your mind and the pressure is on, alot was going on my mind and thats why I pushed baseball off to the side. My senior year I was about to quit but my friend convinced me not too.

[02:51:57]

I dont even stress about playing baseball anymore. Im glad I played and have these good solid memories of playing and getting praised. I dont need to go and play in a league or something, I'm fine with just throwing and catching ball. I realized that baseball might be more of my past then my future.

[02:55:31]

I would be so stressed and anxious before everygame, I'd be hunch over and literally stressed about the game I was about to play. In high school I would not eat lunch before a game, I was so anxious. I dont know it was a weird thing I loved playign sports but it was very stressful for me, I remember these moments before a game, how i felt.

[02:58:33]

Bad memories for me were probably the times where I messed up or did an error like throw a bad ball. Your team needed you to throw a good ball and you dont, then you let everyone down.

[02:59:24]

My little league career in Yorkville, I won two little league championships for whatever thats worth. It was with all my friends we went 16 innings and usually games only go 6 innings. Its a long period of time we went 10 more innings. I was so young 10 or 12 and I dont remember it vividly or really just how great that feeling was until now. There was one game I remember pitching so well and I let no hits allowed and no one scored and we won that game. Everyone was congratulating me, and I dont mean to brag but we won that game because of me. I pitched really well and we won, and thats why we won. And i remember like damn i did that shit wow that was me. My friends were patting me on the back awknowledging me i won them that game.

[03:02:09]

Yea, I'd put them in baseball. I think baseball is a fun sport. I met alot of friends while playing baseball, you create a bond with people that build friendships, you meet alot of people. Being on a team you learn to work with people, whether you like them or not you learn to deal with that person for the greater good, and i think thats a valuable lesson sports has to offer.
